The International Symposium on Usher Syndrome, USH2025 is organised under the responsibility of Stichting Ushersyndroom and is made possible by the efforts of a group of enthusiastic volunteers. We try to limit the use of paid staff as much as possible.
It is special that a scientific congress is organised by a patient organization and it is unique that this symposium will take place in the Netherlands. We want to do this as well as possible and as much fun as possible!
Our ambition is to make USH2025 accessible to everyone. This requires a lot of extra effort, manpower and technology. There is a team of professional interpreters and we use modern means such as Speaksee. This makes the congress more expensive than a comparable scientific congress that does not have this challenge.
We try to keep ticket prices as low as possible. Largely, this is succeeded by contributions from funds and sponsors who recognise the importance of USH2025 for science as well as for the target audience. We welcome all external parties who contribute to USH2025. As a result, we limit the financial risk for Stichting Ushersyndroom. Therefore, the ticket prices - both for scientific congress and for congress festival - certainly do not cover costs.
For this reason, we ask the same financial contribution from everyone who comes to USH2025. In return, everyone - including accompanying interpreters and facilitators - can participate fully in the programme and enjoy the fine location and excellent catering provided by Van der Valk.
