About USH2025
International Symposium on Usher Syndrome
In 2018, the last International Symposium on Usher Syndrome was organized in Mainz, Germany. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, planning and organizing large-scale international events was not possible for an extended period. Fortunately, it is possible again. USH2025, the 5th International Symposium on Usher Syndrome, will take place in Nijmegen (NL) on June 19, 20 and 21, 2025.
Stichting Ushersyndroom (NL), the Usher Syndrome Coalition (US) and a number of international patient organizations have joined forces for the organization of USH2025. This is done in close collaboration with committed scientists from Radboud University Medical Center in The Netherlands and several universities from the United States.

Thursday, June 19th and Friday, June 20th, 2025
Scientists and researchers from all over the world will share their knowledge, status reports on current research and new developments. Our goal is to connect and encourage collaborations and crossovers between the different fields of expertise.
In 2023, Stichting Ushersyndroom formulated its Moonshot for 2030:
“By 2030, The Netherlands (and the rest of the world!) will be familiar with Usher Syndrome and diagnosis, treatment and care will have become standard.” With USH2025 we want to take new steps to achieve this goal. To all scientists who are coming to Nijmegen to share their knowledge and experiences with each other and with the USH community, we ask what their contribution is to realize Moonshot 2030.
USH2025 Congrestival
Saturday, June 21st, 2025
At USH2025 Congrestival (Saturday), compelling contributions and stories of the first two days will be shared with the USH community.
During meetings about Usher Syndrome, the focus is usually on limitations in vision and hearing – and what we can do about it. We want to make USH2025 Congrestival a positive and inspiring Festival of the Senses in which the possibilities that living with Usher Syndrome has are given an important role. A stimulating experience that can be experienced and shared equally by everyone, with or without Usher Syndrome.
